The Raid

My eleventh raid…We caught them red handed.

“It’s just sugar”, they claimed. Their faces told a different story. Bloodshot eyes, shaky legs; the maniacal laugh I’d heard before my team had rushed in. I smelt it.

“Cocaine”, I said. My team led them away.

Behind their back, I slipped the packet into my pocket.

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. Don't really know which is the bigger evil, substance addiction amongst the youth or corruption amongst people in authority. Both are social evils.Good post for highlighting the two evils.
