I stand amidst ruins
A life amidst chaos
No pillar of support
To drive me forward
Today I wish again
For that hand in life
That takes me there
Where I feel I belong

As I grew up silently
Rose did expectations
In that silence I find
My dreams vanishing
Into a deep dark abyss
I wished with desire
No more expectations
Yet that was a wish
It never did come true

Life changed quickly
Failures adorned paths
Those paths that I chose
To cast my shadow upon
I got them more often
Though I never wished for
I wished for more success
Yet I felt only obstacles
Trying to tear my hopes

I wished for equality
To be judged with morals
No shivering hands in life
To cast judgment upon me
Yet those hands arrived
My rivals, they gifted them
Bouquets of green roses
Showers of silver coins
Eyes glinted with greed
Judgment went their way
Another wish went away

I wished for kindness
Kindness on me, my world
Yet no one heard my pleas
The cruelty continued well
Bloodshed, shots of fate
Overshadowed our destiny
Life, priceless, became sold
Taken without any mercy
A wish for life was silenced
Flame of desire, extinguished

I realize now the mistakes
No wish really does work
For if I really wanted a wish
To come true someday soon
I’d have to wish to the Lord
To grant me a thousand more
And the last of that thousand
Yet another thousand wishes
For this life is passionate such
A single wish, just one dream
Never shall be enough to live

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. I sincerely wish that you find your pillar of support which will take you to high places, because that is where you belong not only in Life but in Poetry too!!!No judge can do justice to your poems as they are a class apart!!You must have heard the poem 'If wishes were horses, beggars would ride'. So true!!But a sincere true wish coming from me will do what a thousand more cannot do!!!All the Best!! I loved it!! πŸ˜€ Sincere..True..Simple and it touched my heart!! πŸ™‚

  2. Aah Leo, this was one WISH with such a serious note to it. Very touching! Though this felt like a poetic passage to me as I read along. Am not so much into poetry so can't recognise genres..Pardon me! Any which ways loved it!Wish you all the very best again for the final BAT of the year..:D

  3. I am at a lost for words…I just wished that life could be more perfect and beautiful than your poem…I mean, we all wish so many good things in life but we can't really have them all as life is always coupled with so many obstacles along the way, though how passionate we may wish to attain those!I can't forget that line we've been asked to memorize in grade school, and for some time it has become my favorite recitations in my mind and it goes like this:"I wish to wish the wish you wish;and hope the hope you hope;I wish to dear the dear you dear;and love the love you love!"Whewww…now I realized, it's not at all a perfect wish…:-)You penned tons of emotions and feelings here…;-)I wish you good luck for BATOM!!!

  4. Leo,"Whenever I open your blog, I feel touced;Whenever I feel touched, I wish I could read more of your creations,When I read more of your creations, I wish someday sometime I should pen down my thoughts like this."I loved these lines in your wish."I'd have to wish to the LordTo grant me a thousand moreAnd the last of that thousandYet another thousand wishesFor this life is passionate suchA single wish, just one dreamNever shall be enough to live"I wish you a good luck for BATOM – 12Saravana Kumar – WishYours Frendly,Saravana Kumar M

  8. Wishes, dreams, desires, hopes always lock horns with expectations, responsibilities, circumstantial obligations, social pressures and the result impacts our success in live….and sometimes we fulfill someone's wishes
