Silent; lifeless
My world; bland
A vast desert
Of endless sand
Planted I a seed
And it all began

Small a plant
Started to grow
Sent a butterfly
World to show
Share the seed
Life to bestow

Gave more life
Animals, birds
Started a chain
Gave the word
My world grew
But then I erred

God sent them
Welcomed did I
First felt harmless
They seemed shy
They asked more
I started to die

I gave them food
The grains I grew
Gave pure water
Sweet like dew
They asked more
Though so few

They did attack
What they did find
Made more soon
Of their own kind
To all other tears
They became blind

Began to waste
Rather than use
Burnt my oceans
With their refuse
My soul etched
To ashes reduced

With purifying fire
They began to sin
Burning the trees
Not even chagrin
Didn’t care for me
Fed poison within

Their minds ticked
Fresh needs arose
Cut me for shelter
Like waste dispose
Ideas they decided
Made me morose

Though some tried
My worth to show
Not many listened
My pains to know
Mercilessly looted
The wealth I bore

A need to explore
Gave air no smiles
My fuels they burnt
More all the while
None tried to help
I was sent into exile

No silence existed
The horns in the air
No peace of mind
I found anywhere
I’m on my deathbed
Slowly dying away

Toxics they found
Dumped in my land
Not even concerned
Of burning my hand
Little they realized
Didn’t understand

Without me there
They’d soon die out
I can only be silent
For tears can’t shout
If they don’t repent
They’ll pay no doubt

Listen, time flew by
Yet it’s not too late
An inch from death
But for you I’ll wait
Stop poisoning now
Save me & your fate

Replant those seeds
That I once did sow
Stop killing my babies
Just love you show
Make your life worth
And I shall never go

Time now, save me
Before it’s too late
Be kind never cruel
Let us love not hate
An inch from death
But for you I’ll wait

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. The BEST poem I have read so far!! Knew it from the first time I read it!! Love the description of the environmental destruction. Simple words speaking a million things. The HOPE that you speak of in the poem shows that all is not lost and we can still create a better place to live in. Awesome thoughts and Ideas!! Go Raider!! 😀

  2. Yeah, before it's too late let's all join hands to save mother earth from further destruction coz if we don't, in the end, we will suffer the consequences. Now is the time, as mother earth is inching in a fast pace to final and total destruction, all of which is caused by human neglect and abuse.Time is really running out! I wish many out there could read this voice of yours Leo…for the sake of the coming generations. You did so well. As it has always been, but this is shouting out a message of complete awareness for the sake of mother earth, our life, our home…
