Hidden

Bright seems today
I walk today alone
Smile my companion

Paths of just desire
Do I dare go higher?
I walk much valiant

Somewhere behind me
A shadow approaches
Hidden in the light

Before I can shout
Strong hands gag me
No strength to fight

Hands touch my soul
Agony invites pain
Faltering dreams cry

An echo in the woods
Remains heart’s voice
Alive, yet I’ve died

Sky mirrors my mind
Darkness now shrouds
I awaken, in despair

Soldier do I onward
Now chained to myself
Just emptiness there

I walk again alone
No more direction
This rain cleansing

Only ripped covers
Darkness my blanket
Nothing matters now

All that seems left
Humiliation and pain
Death calls my name

Life beseeches too
Tells of unseen hope
Assures me I can cope

Yet my lonely scars
This day unforgettable
Forever my companion

Only silence remains
Voices, words forbidden
Wounds, forever hidden

Poetry & writing to me are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. You have brought out beauty in horror. They say one can see beauty in death, beauty in suffering, beauty in gore. You have really made it true. You have described something so poignant – the sufferings of a rape victim in such beautiful, dreamy words.
