Heated thoughts fly,
Thirsty soul seeks relief;
Escape route now is desired
Once more.
Anticipation holds captive,
Heavens tremble with hope;
First drops now grace
The world.
Heated earth cries,
Burden has been lifted;
Nostalgia beckons our thoughts
Childhood revisited, we dance;
It has arrived at last,
First drops of joy;

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  3. I missed my childhood…when for every heavy downpour or even just a drizzle, I would invite my playmates and dance wildly and with such a carefree spirit…happy were the days!

  4. Storms and the anticipation of them seem to be the order of the day for this prompt. We've had some pretty impressive thunderstorms here the last couple of nights, and "Heavens trembling with hope" is a perfect description of how they felt.

  5. Leo, this is endearing! I now know what joy the Monsoon brings since we also get it here in AZ. It is a BIG DEAL when it arrives and oh what wonderful lightening storms we get to see. Your poem captures the feeling well. Thanks for you visit to my blog.
