The Perfect Couple

She was a simple girl, petite, ordinary looking but with a beautiful heart. Her one addiction was to music and she used to spend hours listening, streaming on the internet. She had joined a website for that itself, and through that made friends with a similar interest in music.
It was one such day, as she sat lost in one of her favorite songs, that he pinged her. He had similar interest in music too, and wanted to be her friend. She accepted and they both started chatting with each other. With time, she knew him to be very friendly. He was very handsome and lot of young girls had approached him. With time, they both had become good friends. They would chat hours on end. Theirs was a very fun friendship, and both felt incredibly comfortable that it would go no further than that. They exchanged phone numbers and they would sometimes talk over the phone. She was happy.
Life is very strange at times. She started having feelings for him. She was attracted to the love stories that he told her, and had fallen in love with him. She wanted to tell him, but she hid the feelings in her heart thinking he was out of her reach. One day, he asked her to meet him. She had become his best friend, and he wanted to see her. Her voice was sweet, and his was very mature and confidant. He had mailed his photo to her, and he looked ambitious. She had not sent a photo, embarrassed because she was very short. She thought her height may make her ugly in his eyes and not like her at all.
She told him to meet her at the mall, and that if he did not like her, he could just walk away because she did not want to lose a friend. As she waited, her heart beat fast. Then, she saw him coming. He was indeed handsome. She smiled and stood up, but then realized he was actually walking away from her. She was sad. He had not liked her. He called her up that night and apologized for walking away like that, but she knew he was lying. She felt unable to continue the relationship and decided to go away from the city for a while. He would have forgotten her by the time she came back, she thought.
His life continued. Other girls came into his life, but still he missed her a lot. Her face was the one that came in his dreams. Her smile was what he remembered and wanted to see again. He was upset to have walked away that day. She wasn’t very pretty or tall, but she had a very beautiful heart that had loved him a lot. He realized that he was in love with her, and yearned to see her by his side again. He panicked remembering that she had changed her phone number and removed herself from that site where they met. He did not know what to do.
He asked God for help, and then he remembered that she used to come to the temple every Tuesday. He looked at the calendar, and his heart leaped with happiness. It was a Tuesday. He made his way to the temple and stood in a corner waiting for her to come. He prayed for her, and closed his eyes. When he opened them, he saw her coming. She looked beautiful in a simple green dress. She had not seen him and he went near her and stood. When she opened her eyes after prayer, she saw him. She could not believe her eyes. He took her into his arms and told her that he loved her. She could see that love in his eyes. Both were very happy, and went from the temple, looking forward to a beautiful life.

Written For

Based on original story by my Aunt.

Poetry & writing to me are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  2. I like this very much. There' a richness, a sadness. It's constructed very well and I like the flow as well. One concern – the use of them in the opening. I think you could get rid of them both and make the opening flow more. My opinion.Do-Over

  3. wow Leo, that was so beautiful…a love story that's so admirable.that's true love, in spite of one's imperfections, if it's true love you will really be blinded by reality.amazing post!
