3 years ago, sometime in June, my good friend, The Thinker, first showed me his space on blogvilla. I was not much interested then, just satisfied in reading his works which were quite brilliant and beautiful. After much coercing on his part, I joined and made a blog, this one. I always had two sides to my mind. One, the studious brainy one and the other of course being the imaginative poetic one. So it was named ” The Other Side Of Me “. I wrote simple poems, not really grasping the concept of blogging. I had just three or four readers then. Him, Abilasha Ma’am, one of my teachers from school, and two more good friends Lax and Nammi. It didn’t catch my eye, and my blog was inactive for the best part of 2006 and 2007, with only 6 poems in them.

I think my need to empty my thoughts somewhere other than a diary where my mom could see and at the back of notebooks is what brought blogging back into the frame last year in June. The interest didn’t waver this time and I began writing, and at the same time, searching for readers through The Thinker’s blog. Some bloggers I visited came back to my blog and read. The first comment from a blogger other than The Thinker was by a friend who I still have, the creator of Intelligensia, Cinderella or Cin to me. I never looked for readers, but as the journey continued with posts and poems, I began to slowly get more and more readers. Sameera, Milinta, Lena, Divz, Riversoul, Meena, Hemanth, Mayank, they were among the first readers I got. I met Stephen later and he invited me over to a group blog called The Writer’s Lounge. I began writing there, and then got more readers and friends from there. Rashi, Pratibha, Maverick, my sis Kajal, Tweety, Sandeep.. most of my blog friends are part of the Lounge family. Their inspiration has been profound.

The first guest post on my blog was from Lukky, my chechu who wrote a small lovely dedication to my blog on its birthday in November. and later on that month, I celebrated 100 posts on my blog. I took part in blog contests too. Slowly, but surely it had become a part of my life. Somewhere in January 09, I started wanting my posts to be read more and more, so from 15 to 20 posts a month, I brought it down to two or three and yeah, I did get readers. I made another blog called Random Thoughts, changed the name of this blog to “I Rhyme Without Reason” and was going like full steam! Then was born ImPromptu. I became admin at WL, won second in a poetry contest there, left it joined back, left it and joined back again. In the journey, I’d got many awards of encouragement from my fellow bloggers. My reading and readership were increasing. Then in June 09, I combined my two blogs to just one, and celebrated with it, my 200th post in blog. A hasty decision and I left Blogger for WordPress in July. A change, a welcome change perhaps. But I felt like a fish out of water and came back to my home. Comments still lie there in WordPress waiting to be transfered back, and I will do it soon. August and September have flown by in a blur, and today, here I am, 300th post celebrations with my blog family!

I think, my readers would have expected a post full of awards and poems perhaps. I celebrated 100th with poems, and 200th with three awards. I can never decide when it comes to awards because each of my readers deserve every award I can think of. And I can’t post every award I have over here. So this 300th is a simple time travel. I have a lot of people to thank for getting me till here, starting from The Thinker to my recent readers like Rimz, Riya, Shravan, Sona etc etc. From the first guest here in Chechu to the most recent in Vyshu, to all my followers as well. I’ll put it all in one big thank you, from the bottom of my heart!

I never expected to be having 30 posts at one time, here I am with 300 and still aiming for more. Well, the future awaits I guess! πŸ™‚

For the time being, I end with balloons

Chocolate cake

and finally… Fireworks!

Happy 300th post to my blog..! Pardon the ranty celebration! πŸ™‚

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
