At Silent Dawn

Love, it is time, I have to go,
The rays of the sun divine,
They touch the dew on the grass,
Inviting light to eclipse
Darkness which covers us now
The voice of approaching dawn
Pleads with us, coerces us apart,
“Away with you, your time is gone”

The black blanket that is night,
Still covers us, why leave now?
Love, I shall not let you depart.
Through the darkness, I can see
The rays of light begin to arrive
Dear, leave not my side so,
Take me in your arms once more,
Let me see the fire in your eyes glow.

Can’t you hear the distant tune?
The shadows of night shrinking away,
A song, bidding me to take leave,
As it approaches, the break of day
My love, I do wish that I could stay,
A voice inside me, has its own say,
It reflects, that voice of silent dawn,
“Away with you, your time is gone”

Take me with you, let’s not part ways,
For my heart tells we’re meant to be,
Hold my hand, lead, and follow I shall,
Don’t leave me alone, no one to call,
Wherever you go, please take me.
The voice I can hear, the sunrise afar,
I do not wish for you to leave my side,
Can’t we my love, from the light hide?

“Away with you, your time is gone,
Time for lovers both to say goodbye,
His Majesty is here, the Sun God divine,
Time to part, under this bright blue sky”
Part we shall my love, for cruel is fate,
Perhaps destiny shall once again unite.
Goodbye my darling, miss you I shall,
A kiss and we part, under the sky bright.
The form of poem attempted is an Aubade.
An aubade is a poem or song of or about lovers separating at dawn. The form has some dramatic elements, since the poem is often a dialogue between the lovers, one saying that dawn is near and they must part, and the other answering no. There is often a refrain, in which the watchman,(here its dawn itself) warns the lovers of the approaching dawn.

Poetry & writing to me are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
