Catch Me If You Can

Captive I was, for a long time in your thoughts,
Awaiting a return, that I knew wouldn’t happen,
Try as I did, your memories stayed with me so,
Caressing my heart every moment with tears,
Heard I only the silence, as I sat with false hope.

Mesmerizing me, even your absence was unseen,
Every joy, I saw you by my side, willing me on.

Immersed in the waters of these vivid memories,
For a long time, I thought I had no escape at all.

Your memories will always remain with me I know,
Only now, my life is not chained by them anymore,
Ubiquitous your presence may be, but now I am free.

Cast upon me now is a spell, one of undying passion,
Awaiting me, is the dreams that I once did see with you,
Now I shall fly, toward my goals, no one can catch me.

Poetry & writing to me are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
