A Moment Of Silence…

A fire burns within me tonight,
Of anguish, hatred and dismay,
Silence embraces me slowly,
Tears replace the smiles today.

A drop of life, was lost tonight,
Innocence cruelly taken away,
A moment of joy, turned tragic,
For what reason, none can say.

A city in motion, turned to stone,
A moment, turned our lives forlorn,
A moment, our hearts in our mouth,
On this day, many a love was torn.

In a moment, before our eyes,
The dark night sky became red,
No remorse, as one by one,
Priceless lives fell and bled.

No reason can justify this sin,
For the innocent, spare a thought,
Hell’s fury is less, for the demons behind,
They have a nation’s curse, that can’t be forgot

For the souls that were lost,
I pray, let them rest in peace,
Let us join their loved ones on earth,
For their souls, a moment of silence please.

Poet’s note:
I am shocked to see the terror that is striking India these days. Not only India but the World over, it is reigning supreme. Though the fight against terror is active, it is not yet strong enough. The innocent lives that are being lost, it is a lot to say.
To spread a little love is difficult, but when we try to do that, the world is the best place to be. But rather than spread the love, the world is intended to be a centre of terror it seems. One alone cannot go against terror. That is a task too big, to do alone. Hand in hand, perhaps the world can fight against it.
Separated, we are easy to be thrown down. But together, it becomes difficult for anyone to separate us. With this post, I light a candle, for those souls that were lost to terrorism. May their souls rest in peace. Amen.

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. Nicely done LEO and I totally agree. The idiom-UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL is the most important thing to note here.Anguish tears my heart toothe unfathomable helplessness crying’what can I do’?but hope is not lost yeteven in the gore of death…We ARE resilient, we WILL come through!HERES’S TO ALL THE BRAVE MARTYERS WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES SAVING THE COMMAN MAN..

  2. I believe all of us can play our part in uplifting the vibrations world over.Let our heart pour out in loveliked the message in the endGod bless πŸ™‚

  7. The demons that did this will suffer. Unfathomable ill fortune will befall them. Every anguished cry every wail of sorrow from the victims and their families will hit them, torture them a thousand fold more than ever. They deserve it. Your poem is an awesome tribute leo. Thankyou.

  8. dude nice poem to express ur views….dont knw wht they r going to achive by doing such things….innocent people r being killed…..bad naablog updated!!

  9. Thanks for this Leo! it is difficult to know what to say when something like this happens. But we should all try and say something, in the future I will try and write rhymes about such things.

  10. It is with a full heart… and heavy eyes that I read this. Beautifully and simply expressed is the anguish of the city, of its people and of the nation as well…May the Lord rest their souls in peace; and may He lend strength to the grieving hearts too.

  11. ….Hand in hand, perhaps the world can fight against it.Separated, we are easy to be thrown down. But together, it becomes difficult for anyone to separate us….I hope every Indian understands this message…My condolences to all those innocent souls wholost their lives in this gory mishap.

  12. You summed up the whole thing right..but one question–> we can all write about this terrorism..think of the people who've lost their better halves n dear ones..they'd be totally spell bound of what to do..and what will your and my write ups do to help them?Everybody can mourn over losses..but nobody does anything about it.Not that em critisizing your write up..its a marvel..but ponder over what I stated

  13. ur posts and my posts are for expressing our opinions, our outrage at such things happening aayu. they might not help the families…thats true.
