People I realize, look at me in different ways,
Some judge me, by just looking at my face.
Wise men said, judge not a book by the cover,
Yet in life, the meaning of the words people don’t discover.
They do not come to me, talk to me or just listen,
They believe in what they see, like fool’s gold that glistens.
Some judge me, by the words that I say,
Yet they do not fully listen, they hear only what they want me to say.
They do not grasp, what I have told them so much,
After they hear what they want, they drown my voice such.
Yet there are some, who are true to me,
They understand my words, like what I meant them to be.
They see past my face, into my heart deep,
They are with me in the mornings and in my dreams when I sleep.
Yet there is one, who knows me like no other,
I see him daily, yet he is not my brother.
In the mirror on my wall, it is him I see,
For no one can know who I am, better than me.
