Fear

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

A quote, an inspiration… that is what I feel. This dialogue from the movie Coach Carter, is one I like and one that I treasure.

That power I hold within me, it does scare me a lot. I am not overemphasizing it or anything such. I am speaking true and from my heart. I am of the motto, “I can do anything I set my heart to.”
And yet it is that very motto, which makes me uncomfortable. It makes me fear failure… which I cannot avoid. I do feel sometimes to make myself be a nobody, but I realize that I am not going to be helping anyone by doing so. Indeed it is that light I fear. Everybody has their strong points, their light. It is up to them to choose how to shine. If they shine in their field, they excel. And by doing that, they encourage others to shine in what they do best. As we shine, we lose the fear, the fear of failure.

This is my interpretation of the quote. And I live by this interpretation. If I have helped a friend to reach his best, then I am happy. Nothing or no one can take that joy away from me.

“If you are the reason for a single smile, you can smile brightest. For that one smile that you have sparked, will set off another smile…. And that another… your one smile, will end up making a million smiles.”

Last quote is mine. Just a thought…. Give it some thought…

Poetry & writing to me are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
