Sour Dose Of Reality

i was a regular viewer of a reality show X which looks to find new talent in the field of music. its success in the previous season had made it even more popular this season but frankly speaking, after seeing this season… i have made up my mind that i will not see a reality show involving music again…

the judges, some of the industry’s proclaimed best, to my disgust i found to be tone deaf. a song which other two contestants sang better in the previous season they had told many mistakes were there… and this time the contestants sang it like my cassette player put in fast forward… the judges rated it as awesome… i felt that the song, which also had made the movie a blockbuster in the 90’s, was berated because of this horrendous judgment, or i should say lack of it.

another thing i feel is wrong with these shows is the objective of the show. not pointing fingers at any one particular show, they claim the show is the quest for the “next big singer” (as in comparison to a famous artist of present or past.. like the next Bryan Adams for e.g.).. when the current artist has already proven that he is unique and there is no one else like him, then why even try??

then there is the case of mistreatment of contestants by the judges… as to this context i feel that since the contestants come to the show chasing their dreams, when the judges find that someone else is better than them, they should tell them that in soft words rather than proclaiming that they have no talent or that they are horrible at that talent. after all they too were chasing their dreams once upon a time weren’t they?

so if i were to see such a show (hopefully in this life anyways…) i hope that it would bring out the first so-&-so than the next so-&-so… without bias in judgment as well.

then for sure that show would be a success.

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
